So nearly two weeks since our set at The Dartmouth Inn, I thought it was about time to put finger to keyboard and record some thoughts about our inaugural gig.
The first live outing with a new band is always a little frightening, even more so when taking fresh material out for the first time too. But despite nerves jangling aplenty, and a few first performance teething problems, our set was well received both by the organiser and the very friendly crowd. A lot of people took the time to come and speak to us afterwards, and to say some very nice things, so thankyou to everyone who watched and supported us.
Nigel, the organiser, has invited us back for another set sometime soon, so we shall be playing The Dartmouth again before the end of July. You have all been warned ;)
We played a 3 song set, sandwiched between a pair of human beatboxes, and a 7 piece sleazy laidback funk act, which is a varied enough evening to become part of folk rock myth. As is the entirely unfounded rumour started by Nigel that Cake for Lily are in fact a Glam-folk act and would be taking to the stage in rhinestone and glitter jumpsuits. I’m thankful to report that this was not the case.
Our set consisted of:
One Step from Summer
The Boy with Pomegranates in His Eye
Faithless St (Whiskeytown cover sung by my goodself).
